WAFORA™ FlexScraper Set — Silicone Spatulas for Baking & Mixing

Folding combines a lighter mixture with a heavier one while trying to preserve the air already incorporated. It is slower and gentler than vigorous stirring. The exact sequence depends on the recipe, but a broad spatula and a roomy bowl make the motion easier to control.

Prepare the mixtures before folding

Have the pan ready so the batter does not sit while you search for equipment. Follow the recipe's temperature and whipping instructions. If it calls for lightening a dense base with a small portion of whipped mixture first, do that before folding in the rest. Do not invent that step for every recipe.

Use a cut, sweep and lift motion

Cut the spatula down through the mixture, sweep across the bottom and lift the heavier batter over the lighter portion. Turn the bowl a little and repeat. Scrape the base as well as the sides so dense pockets do not remain hidden underneath. Keep movements deliberate rather than beating in circles.

Choose a spatula that reaches the bowl

The WAFORA™ FlexScraper Set offers five silicone spatula sizes for scraping and folding. Choose one broad enough to lift batter and flexible enough to reach the curve of your bowl. A tiny tool means more strokes; a tool too large for the bowl is awkward to control.

Stop when the mixture is evenly combined

Look for streaks and pockets of flour without continuing simply to reach an arbitrary stroke count. Different recipes need different amounts of folding. Transfer gently into the prepared pan and bake as directed. Avoid tapping or stirring aggressively unless the recipe specifically calls for it.

Frequently asked question

Can you use a mixer instead of folding by hand?

Only if the recipe instructs you to. A powered attachment can deflate a delicate mixture quickly and may overmix flour.
